Knee‑High Sheep Wool Medical Boot

Ideal for: diabetics • vascular issues • restless leg syndrome • wheelchair users • bed‑bound individuals • anyone needing circulation support and skin protection

Description

Our Knee‑High Sheep Wool Boot is designed for people who need reliable warmth, circulation support, and protection from pressure, friction, and moisture. Made with 1-inch medical‑grade sheep wool pile, this boot surrounds the lower leg in a breathable, temperature‑regulating environment that keeps muscles relaxed, skin dry, and pressure points protected all night long.

Sheep wool naturally regulates body temperature. It carries its own gentle warmth, helping muscles stay loose instead of stiff or painful in the morning. Wool also absorbs 30–40% of its weight in moisture, pulling humidity away from the skin and releasing it into the air. This prevents the damp, sticky environment that leads to maceration, bacterial growth, and skin breakdown.

Our high‑density wool provides pressure redistribution, offloading, and bedsore prevention. When an area of skin becomes reddened, you typically have a 24–36 hour window before breakdown. Wool helps protect that vulnerable area by reducing friction, shear, and heat, the three biggest contributors to pressure injuries.

Why Choose a Sheep Wool Knee‑High Boot

Promotes Circulation

The 1-inch wool pile provides gentle, natural support that encourages healthy blood flow. This is especially beneficial for individuals with vascular issues, diabetes, or limited mobility.

Moisture Absorption & Wicking

Wool absorbs moisture from the skin and releases it into the air, keeping feet dry and reducing the risk of maceration, fungal growth, and skin irritation.

Prevents Skin Breakdown

The plush wool pile redistributes pressure and reduces friction and shear — key factors in preventing pressure injuries for wheelchair users and bed‑bound individuals.

Comfort for Wheelchair Users

Wool cushions the lower leg and foot, reducing pressure points and protecting fragile skin during long periods of sitting.

Support for Restless Leg Syndrome, Vascular Issues & Diabetes

The warmth, cushioning, and moisture control help reduce discomfort, swelling, and irritation associated with these conditions.

Sheepskin vs. Sheep Wool — What’s the Difference?

  • Sheepskin: The hide with the wool still attached.

  • Sheep Wool Fabric: Wool fibres sheared from the sheep, then knitted into a nylon grid and stabilized with a medical‑grade acrylic.

    • Machine washable

    • No hide

    • Durable, breathable, and clinically safe

All Soul Comfort Medical wool products are made with 1-inch medical density wool, washable at 70°C, and meet Canadian National Infection Control Guidelines.

General Care

  • Expect light shedding when new — air fluff for 5 minutes (no heat) to remove loose fibres.

  • Avoid high heat and direct sunlight.

  • Wool naturally binds over time; this does not affect performance.

  • For a fluffier look, brush with a metal brush after laundering.

Washing Instructions

  • Machine wash on delicate in cool/lukewarm water (up to 70°C)

  • Use wool soap with lanolin (e.g., Eucalan)

  • Air dry or tumble with no heat to fluff

  • Remove before fully dry (up to 85% dry) — remaining moisture will dissipate naturally

  • To freshen, hang outside in moist air (avoid direct sun)

  • Spot clean with warm water and disinfecting soap if needed

  • Do not bleach
