Why Wool Supports Skin Health
Pressure Relief & Cushioning
The natural loft of wool redistributes pressure, helping prevent skin breakdown and discomfort.
Temperature Regulation
Wool maintains a stable microclimate, warm when needed, cool when needed, reducing sweating and irritation.
Moisture Absorption
Wool absorbs 30–40% of its weight in moisture, keeping the skin dry and reducing the risk of maceration.
Antimicrobial & Antibacterial
Lanolin in wool naturally discourages bacteria, mold, and fungus.
Sheepskin vs. Sheep Wool Fabric
-
Sheepskin = hide + wool attached
-
Sheep wool fabric = wool fibre shorn from the sheep, knitted into a backing
-
Our products use sheep wool fabric, making them washable, breathable, and humane
What Is Sheep Wool Fabric?
Our medical wool fabric is made from:
-
100% wool fibre (shorn from sheep)
-
Knitted into a nylon grid for strength and shape retention
-
Stabilized with a medical‑grade acrylic compound
This creates a durable, washable material that looks and feels like sheepskin, without the hide.
General Care
-
Expect light shedding at first, this is normal
-
Air‑fluff in the dryer (no heat) for 5 minutes to remove loose fibres
-
Keep away from high heat and direct sunlight
-
Wool may “clump” over time, this does not affect performance
-
Brush with a metal brush after washing if you prefer a fluffier look
With proper care, your wool products will last many, many years.
Washing Instructions
-
Machine wash on delicate in cool/lukewarm water (up to 70°C)
-
Use wool soap containing lanolin (e.g., Eucalan)
-
Air dry recommended
-
You may tumble dry without heat to fluff
-
Remove at 85% dry, remaining moisture will dissipate quickly
-
Spot clean with warm water (up to 70°C) and disinfecting soap
-
Do not bleach
Wool is naturally antimicrobial and does not require frequent laundering. To freshen, hang outside in moist air, out of direct sunlight.
